About

Welcome to Sarasota Florida’s Rosemary District website. The district was founded in 1886 and is located just east of Tamiami Trail (US 41) and to the north of Fruitville Road.  Central Avenue runs through the District.  Dining, Art, Shopping and “Playing” are the among the favorite activities available in the Rosemary District.

Despite its historic roots, the Rosemary District is anything but old-fashioned.  The home of many small, locally owned and run businesses, from creative gift boutiques to art studios to chic cafes, the Rosemary District has something for everyone.  The Rosemary District is a prime spot for residential development because of its walking-distance proximity to its many shops and restaurants as well as its closeness to the glistening Sarasota Bay.  Residents of Rosemary enjoy a variety of living settings, from cottages to high-rise condominiums.

Starting in 1995 when a community board formed to raise funds to renovate the historic area, the Rosemary District has been transformed from a neglected part of downtown into its current state of sophistication and style.  Now, the area is flourishing with fresh ideas, innovative businesses, and more.

Simply put, the Rosemary District is a fun place to live.  The Rosemary District holds its Rosemary Rising Street Festival annually each December, drawing people from all over the greater Sarasota area and beyond.  With delicious food, live music, art displays, and dramatic performances for attendees’ pleasure, Rosemary Rising is a party for people of all ages.  The Rosemary District is anything but commercialized, and the Street Festival captures the character of the area perfectly.
